If your course is not listed, tell us the code and we will let you know whether we cover it. We add courses as we take them on.

Before you pay us

Try the free help on campus first.

UVic runs drop-in help that costs nothing, and for a lot of students it is enough. The Math and Stats Assistance Centre, office hours, and peer tutoring all exist for exactly this. We have written up what is available and when to use it.

Tutoring is worth paying for when you need someone who knows your specific course, when the free help is too crowded to get to your question, or when you have a midterm in two weeks and cannot afford to stay stuck. If you have already failed a midterm, that is usually the moment.

Practical

Where we meet, and what it costs.

In-person sessions happen wherever suits you: on campus, at the McPherson Library, at a coffee shop nearby, or at home. Most UVic students we work with live in Saanich, Oak Bay, or Victoria, all of which we cover in person.

Rates

  • $70 per 50-minute session online
  • $95 per 50-minute session in person
  • Prepaid 8 sessions: $520 online or $720 in person, a $40 saving

Prepaid hours never expire and are refundable, less a $35 administration fee.

There is also provincial funding some students qualify for. We covered it in this guide to StudentAid BC and tutoring.

FAQ

Questions from UVic students.

Do you tutor my specific UVic course?

We cover first and second year math, physics, statistics, and mechanical engineering, which is where most requests land. The course lists above are what we tutor regularly. If your course is not there, send us the code and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.

Can we meet on campus?

Yes. In-person sessions can be on campus, at the library, at a nearby coffee shop, or at your place. Online over Zoom works just as well and costs less.

How quickly can I start?

Usually within 24 hours. Fill out the form and tell us the course code and what is coming up, and we will match you with a tutor who has taken or taught it.

I have a midterm this week. Is it too late?

Not necessarily, but be realistic. One session before a midterm can fix a specific misunderstanding or clean up exam technique. It cannot cover a term you have not attended. Tell us what you are stuck on and we will say what is achievable.

Do you help with assignments?

We help you understand and work through problems. We do not complete graded work for you, which is set out in our terms.
