What People are Saying
Posted on Liam Quayle Heywood Academies has been fantastic since the moment I reached out. Everyone has been friendly, helpful, and quick to respond!Posted on Ann Daws Marc was incredibly helpful and we hope to hire him again in the near future.Posted on Anayah Cheema I started tutoring online with Demitra for Chem 11 earlier this year. I tend to forget things very easily and struggle to retain information in class, Demitra was so patient with me and re-explained the material until I understood it. So happy I got her as a tutor I could not recommend her enough. Thank you Heywood Academics!! (saved my chem grade)Posted on Jodie Fadum Heywood academies has been great to deal with. My daughter has been getting help from Marc in grade 11 math and it has helped tremendously. Very professional and responsive. Definitly recommend.Posted on Jen P We have tried a few tutors over the years and none have been overly helpful. As much as they are smart the tutoring quickly became boring and tiresome. Matt has a great business here. It is efficient and organzied. He matched our daughter with a great tutor who is young and teaches in a way that makes sense to her. He was able to match us quickly with someone to come to the house. We highly recommend.Posted on Chloe Harty I started tutoring with Matt because I was struggling with my first year Physics and Calculus courses at UVic. I had tried a couple of other tutors before Matt, but Matt was by far the most patient and intelligent. He ended up getting me through all of my Calculus levels and Matrix Algebra. I cannot recommend him enough.Posted on Taddaeus Maljaars My Tutor Alec Godfrey was Amazing! His understanding of the subject was great, which improved my understanding of the course. Overall would highly recommend Heywood Academies to those who need professional help.Posted on Peter Manfield Matt is a great tutor! I am currently enrolled in UVIC and had to complete PHYS 111 for an engineering requirement. Even though my grades very low on my mid terms (at average of maybe 40% before I hired Matt). I decided to hire Matt to see if he could help save me from repeating the course. After a few sessions, Matt helped me save my grade and pass the course. Over our sessions together, Matt was very patient and understanding when it came to explaining and demonstrating subjects to me. He helped me understand in a visual way rather than just “by the textbook” and the he made it easy for me to break down complicated worded questions (thanks to Dr. Laidlaw for making the difficult questions). I especially liked the example questions that he gave in our sessions because they were sourced from previous UVIC PHYS 111 semesters. If you are on your last limb and you’re looking for a GREAT tutor, Matt is your guy! I can’t thank you enough Matt and I’m happy to write this reviewPosted on Hayes Evans I was recommended Heywood Academies by several friends, and it has far exceeded my expectations! Matt is truly passionate about his work and it shows. Regardles of your background or goals, Matt really wants to help and see you achieve your goals. If you're willing to put in the time and effort, he'll be an invaluable asset to your educational journey.Posted on PJ Fairfield Marc was our tutor for Foundations of Math 11. He was friendly, professional and incredibly patient and supportive. We highly recommend him and Heywood.Google rating score: 5.0 of 5, based on 24 reviews
How it Works

Get matched with a professional tutor who actually understands physics and can explain it in ways that click, not just recite formulas at you.

Meet your tutor online or in person. We work through problems together and show you how to approach physics questions strategically.

Leave each session with a clearer understanding of the concepts, useful practice resources, and a study plan you can actually follow.
What Actually Happens During a Tutoring Session?
Our sessions run 50 minutes. Physics is one of those subjects where a small gap in understanding can snowball fast, so start by figuring out exactly where things went sideways. From there, we work through problems together, build up the concepts properly, and make sure you leave with resources to keep practicing on your own.
Every student is different. Some need help catching up on Physics 11 concepts before Physics 12. Others are prepping for a big test or working through AP Physics problem sets. We focus on what’s most useful for you. This usually means lots of practice problems done together.
How Much Does High School Tutoring Cost?
Online tutoring costs $65 per session and in-person tutoring costs $90 per session. We also offer a prepaid 8-session package where you pay for 8 sessions upfront and save $40.
Should I do Online or In Person Tutoring?
For most students, I’d suggest starting with online tutoring as it’s flexible and easy to schedule. If you don’t have a quiet workspace or reliable computer setup at home, in-person is a great option. We can meet at your home, a coffee shop, or your school.
For online sessions, you’ll get a PDF of everything we worked through after each session. You also have the option to record the session which is handy for reviewing before a test.
