My background is in mechanical engineering, and I started Heywood Academies in 2022 to help students with their math, science, and engineering courses.
I did the mechanical engineering technologist program through Camosun College and the Bachelor of Engineering through the University of Victoria.
I also now teach mechanical engineering at Camosun College.

During my degree, I spent significant time taking hands-on field courses at Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre, where I gained practical skills in marine research and fieldwork.
I also work as a teaching assistant, conducting biology laboratories at the University of Victoria, and as a Naturalist aboard whale-watching vessels.
Outside of work, I enjoy swimming, scuba diving, crocheting, and hiking.

I am currently in my second year of biomedical engineering at the University of Victoria, where I am developing a strong foundation in STEM subjects including physics, calculus, biology, and chemistry.
Since graduating high school in 2024, I have been driven by a passion for science and for helping other students understand complex topics in ways that suit their individual learning styles.
Outside of academics, I enjoy staying active. In my spare time you can usually find me running, baking banana bread, or enjoying a fresh batch.
A Fun Fact: I have Scottish heritage and used to compete as a highland dancer.

I have an associate’s degree from Selkirk College in Biology, and recently graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology.
