"It was pleasant working with Matt. We worked on specific problems I was struggling with. Overall, it was a great experience and I highly recommend it to any student who needs help."
Refer a family, and you both get $75.
You get $75 by e-transfer. They get $75 off their tutoring. It pays out once they have finished their first session, so there is nothing to claim and nothing to chase.
Refer a FamilyThree steps, and only one of them is yours.
You tell us who to contact
Fill in the form below with their name and how to reach them. It takes about a minute.
We reach out and mention you
We contact them within 24 hours, say that you passed their name along, and offer a free consultation. If it is not a fit, that is the end of it and nobody is chased.
They finish their first session, you both get $75
Your $75 goes out by e-transfer within a week of that session. Their $75 comes off their account automatically.
We would rather pay you than pay for ads.
Getting a new family through advertising costs us roughly $150 by the time the ads, the clicks, and the enquiries that go nowhere are counted up. That money goes to Google and Meta.
A family sent by someone who has actually sat through our sessions is a better fit almost every time, and it costs us the same $150. So we split it: $75 to you, $75 to them. Same budget, better outcome, and the money stays with the people it came from.
That is also why the payout waits for the first completed session. It is the point where we know the match is real, and it means we are never paying for a name that was passed along just to collect.
Who should we talk to?
Only refer someone you actually know and who is happy to hear from us. We contact them once, mention your name, and leave it there if they are not interested.
The whole program, in plain terms.
- Who can refer. Any current or past Heywood Academies family.
- Who counts as referred. Someone who has not tutored with us before and is not already an enquiry in progress. If two people refer the same family, the first referral we received is the one that counts.
- When it pays out. After the referred family completes and pays for their first session. A booking on its own is not enough, and a consultation on its own is not enough.
- Your $75. Sent by Interac e-transfer to the email on your referral, usually within a week of that first session.
- Their $75. Applied as credit against tutoring. It has no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash, in whole or in part. It cannot be transferred to another family, and it is not refundable if tutoring stops, including as part of a refund on a prepaid package. It does not expire.
- How many. No limit. Refer as many families as you like, and each one that completes a first session pays out.
- Combining. The $75 credit can be used alongside our normal rates, but not stacked with another promotion on the same session.
- Changes. We can change or end this program at any time. Any referral already submitted will be honoured under the terms above.

The things people ask first.
What if they sign up but never book a session?
Then nobody gets paid, including us. The payout is tied to a completed first session rather than a signup, because that is the point where we know it was a real match. If they book later, the referral still counts.
Do I have to be a current client to refer someone?
No. Any family who has tutored with us, now or in the past, can refer. If you have never worked with us and want to send someone our way anyway, please do, but the $75 is for families who know first-hand what they are recommending.
How do I get the money?
Interac e-transfer to the email address you put on the referral form, usually within a week of the referred family's first session. Make sure that address is one you can receive transfers at.
Can the referred family use the $75 on their first session?
Yes. The credit lands on their account once that first session is complete, so in practice it comes off their second invoice onward. It does not expire, so there is no rush to use it.
Can the $75 credit be taken as cash instead?
No. The referrer's $75 is cash by e-transfer, but the referred family's $75 is credit against tutoring only. It has no cash value, cannot be paid out, and is not refunded if they stop tutoring or ask for a refund on a prepaid package. It does not expire, so it can sit on the account until it is used.
Will you spam the person I refer?
No. We contact them once, say that you passed their name along, and offer a free consultation. If they are not interested, that is the last they hear from us. They are not added to any mailing list unless they ask to be.
Is there a limit on how many families I can refer?
No limit. Each family who completes a first session pays out $75, however many that ends up being.
What students say.
"Been looking for a tutor and this just feels right. Not only tutors but resources that keep you going, too! As an engineering student, they are very helpful. Totally worth it!!"
"My daughter is in first year engineering and was struggling with matrix algebra. On her behalf, I contacted Heywood Academies. Matt got back to me right away and set my daughter up with an excellent, friendly tutor and her marks have improved significantly. Thanks to Heywood Academies, both my and my daughter’s stress levels have come down."
"Super easy to communicate and schedule with, and the tutoring really helped with the final push through Physics 11."
"I started tutoring with Matt because I was struggling with my first year Physics and Calculus courses at UVic. I had tried a couple of other tutors before Matt, but Matt was by far the most patient and intelligent. He ended up getting me through all of my Calculus levels and Matrix Algebra. I cannot recommend him enough."
Send them our way.
You get $75, they get $75 off, and they get a tutor who knows their actual course. Takes about a minute.
