Matt

My background is in mechanical engineering. I started Heywood Academies in 2022 to help students with their math, science, and engineering courses. I completed the mechanical engineering technologist program through Camosun College and a Bachelor of Engineering through the University of Victoria, and I now teach mechanical engineering at Camosun College.

Fun fact: I spent a year travelling around Australia working as an online tutor.

Marc

I've recently graduated from the mechanical engineering program at the University of Victoria. After school, I'd like to travel, I'm studying German to add to my repertoire of languages, and I love spending time in the kitchen prepping delicious things.

Fun fact: I always have a fun ferment going, this time it's pineapple hot sauce.

Morgan

I completed my bachelor's degree in biology, with a concentration in marine biology, at the University of Victoria, including hands-on field courses at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre. I also work as a teaching assistant running biology labs at UVic, and as a naturalist aboard whale-watching vessels.

Fun fact: I've backpacked through more than 20 countries and spent six months living in Kenya.

Jessica

I hold an associate's degree from Selkirk College in biology and a Bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Victoria, focused on genetics and molecular biology. I was Vice-President of the UVic Biology Undergrad Society, running community and networking events for students.

Fun fact: I'm very good at solving Wordle puzzles.

Ryan

I am an experienced tutor with a statistics background and over 20 years of professional, full-time tutoring experience. I am also trained at UVic as a BC high school teacher. I'm experienced in assisting students in rural, remote, and First Nations communities, and in assisting students taking correspondence and distance learning courses. I make learning enjoyable and effective, helping you excel in your coursework.

Aydan

I have master's and bachelor's degrees in Physics from UVic, both with an Astronomy concentration. I have taught and tutored at Camosun, and I was a teaching assistant for many first-year physics classes at UVic.

Fun fact: I once worked in a "radio quiet zone" where no electronics were allowed, including phones, laptops, and even cars!
